…….and we love a project at JCA.

So, when long-standing client, commercial landlord Gregory Wilson, contacted us regarding an office refurbishment in Wimbledon SW19, it was right up our street. And we were soon on theirs…..Compton Road.

Overview

The Old Telephone Exchange is an attractive 9500 square foot four-storey period building, and one that we had worked on previously with Greg. And as JCA’s Senior Building Surveyor Steve Latham explains, this was a very personal project for Greg.

“Yes, Greg is someone who we have worked extensively with before. His father was a solicitor who practised in, and actually owned, The Old Telephone Exchange building, and so there was a real sense of legacy for Greg. We fully took that on board throughout this project

You might ask why were JCA chosen by Greg to work with him on this project? JCA’s Managing Director Jonathan Cornes answers.

Greg is very particular in what he wants. After working with us before he knows our standards are as high as his. He knows the levels of expertise and experience we have within the company. For example, both me and Stuart have extensive knowledge and experience in project management, whilst Steve is highly-skilled in design. What did the process involve?

Greg himself confirms the above, and also notes that the level of client service from JCA is second-to-none. It’s not just services, but the people themselves, too…..

In a highly desirable location near the centre of Wimbledon village, The Old Telephone Exchange is an attractive multi-let office building that now hosts a range of companies inside. JCA’s remit was to convert remaining lower ground storage space into highly desirable office space.

After initially being instructed by Greg, JCA measured up the building and produced a scheme design and plans including detailed schedule of work. Once agreed, JCA issued these to vetted contractors for the tendering process to obtain market costs. The process is outlined by Steve…..

The Process

Yes, we produce a pack with all detailed information in, including the necessary health and safety details”, he comments. “This includes an overview and all costings. We then send this out to a range of highly experienced, selected contractors, and when we get an itemised breakdown of costs we query any anomalies before choosing the contractor that we feel will do an outstanding job on the project for the client”.
